Is your business ready to accept EMV payments?

EMV (Europay MasterCard Visa) was designed to reduce fraud at the point of sale using chip based smart cards for authentication. It provides comprehensive protection against:
Counterfeit and skimming - through the use of cryptography
Dynamic protected value unique to each transaction
EMV cards have been used all over the world since 1993, and have been a major factor in reducing card-present fraud.
That’s because the technology behind EMV makes it virtually impossible to copy a card, which greatly reduces your risk of accepting a counterfeited card.

How Does EMV Work in Terminals?
-
Chips embedded in cards contain encrypted data, which is accessed by the reader in the terminal
-
The terminal sends a code, or “cryptogram” to the processor during the transaction, validating the card and the cardholder
-
EMV cards can be either “contact”, requiring insertion into the terminals, or “contactless” where the card is held near the terminal, or hybrid
